Black and White on Blue
We had 3 ½” of snow, then a few days later they started talking about an ice storm, 5 days of a possibility of ice. After it missing us for about 3 days it came in on the next night and got us. It could have been a lot worse; as we had 2 ½” of rain but the temperature was not always below freezing. It settled the snow down with a glaze on top and coated the trees and wires with a heavy coat of ice. It put us out of power for about 3 ½ days. After the first day of wondering the pasture looking for grass in the snow the goats ate hay in the barn and the lofting yard. They knew better than to try and eat grass when each blade has a quarter inch of ice all around the blade. They say “that don’t taste like grass to them”.
