Bright Carpenters Wheel Quilt Block
This is a “Carpenters Wheel” quilt block. It is made using diamonds and triangles from different kinds of wood, all in their natural colors. I used some bright exotic wood on this one. There are 80 pieces on this block, 32 diamonds and 48 triangles, all full size. It measures 7” square. To finish them, I use 3 or 4 coats of a clear wiping varnish, rubbed in by hand.
The type of wood is listed on the bottom from the center out. On this quilt block the wood is “Satinwood” from Brazil, “Purple Heart” from Central or South America and “Hackberry”, “Oak” and “Walnut” from Missouri.
