“Miss Kitty” Learned Who Her Friends Are.
“Miss Kitty” lived for years down in Marks house and you hardly ever saw her as they kept food out for her all of the time. When I would go down there to keep the fire going last winter, she got to where she would jump up on a cat bed and let me pet her if I were setting by it. I put her in the barn last spring and we very seldom saw her after that for the rest of the year. I got tired of the dog food disappearing so fast with all of the cats going into the dog house and eating it. I started just putting it out for him for a little while night and morning when I fed the cats a little cat food. A few nights later I saw “Miss Kitty” setting under the truck talking to me. I get her to come on up to the porch and I give her a hand full of dog food. If she wants it she has to let me pet her. She finally relents and lets me pet her as she eats. The next night she does the same and then I don’t see her for a couple nights. She then shows up in the barn and I feed her separately from the other cats as they can’t stand each other. It’s not just the other cats, if the kittens get near her she hisses and swats at them. They are learning to be very careful around her. When I go outside now she comes running to get petted and hope for some food, along with the kittens.
