Nosing Up the Salt Cover.
If I had over $100.00 for a weather proof salt holder for the calves it would be nice but I never do so I took a big truck tire I had cut the side out of to block the goats’ salt. I had an old extra wide racing tire and fastened it inside the truck tire to make it more stable and hinged a rubber cover that had been on the floor of a horse trailer. The calves kept opening it from the side and wracking it out of shape so I put it between the two basketball backboards that I had to make them open it from the front. It’s all a matter of trial and era; you have to work with the animals as they are not how you want them to be.
