Found In the Mud
When I went out yesterday morning I saw Slick had some kids somewhere. When I made my way past some goats and the two calves I found them just off of the concrete in the mud, two alive and one dead. I got them in on the dry concrete and then got the feed out and the goats in the stalls and the calves eating so they would all be out of the way. I wiped them off and weighed them and had Kathy start drying them off with the hair dryer. The dark headed kid weighed 9# 15oz, the white headed kid weighed 8# 6oz and the dead kid was 7# 4oz. She will do a lot better with just the two of them and they will grow better. That one white headed one is different with one ear almost all white, the other ear and side of its head does have the color of the Boer goats. They cleaned up nice once they dried off but we will see if they do ok from being in the mud before I got them out. They were still wet from the birth and not from the water from the mud.
